NYCC UPDATE: We missed the deadline.
I was a little upset at first, but I understand. I mean I could barely do it. All the money that I tried to save ended up being spent on necessities of life (rent, food, electricity, internet, etc.). So believe me when I say I understand.
HOWEVER, I will be ATTENDING this year, mostly because I love comic conventions. I’m not going to go into great detail, but I had been in a creative funk for a while. I didn’t know if I should continue in my chosen profession(even though at the time of writing it seems more like a hobby). I thought that I should give up. Then I went to NYCC. Artist’s Alley. Ugh, if ever there was a place I felt like I belonged, it was there.
I loved every bit, wanting to covort and talk with people who were professionals. I met some great guys and wanted to talk even more, but nerves took over and I chickened out because I know all I’d be able to shriek is “ME BIG FAN OF PRETTY PICTURES!”
I eventually did meet some cool people. I was very happy to find a place I could call home. NYCC also got me off my butt in regards to Lightning Man. The following year I had started putting together and animated series. THAT didn’t go anywhere, but I was prepared. The cartoon had lead me to going back into my story telling roots. So I started drawing comic pages based on an old script I wrote for the now dead Lightning Man cartoon “MINEPORT” entitled “CATALYST”. Need I say more?
The comic’s been a blast to work on and this guest written story is becoming one of my favorites. Even though, part of me still wants to get back into animation in the old familar Mineport style. The long time fans know what I’m talking about.
So. With that said. I think I’ll just leave things there. If I were to work on a Mineport style story, it would be difficult. Getting actors and musicians and TIME oh the time.
Thoughts? Please comment. I don’t get better without them.
